Michael is a licensed mental health  counselor who has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings for 25 years, and he has been with Dunn Associates for 18 years. He  has extensive training and experience in trauma having worked for a local burn center for 25 years as a trauma specialist. He has been trained in several validated and reliable therapeutic modalities.  Throughout his career, Michael has given back to local and national communities. He continues to volunteer for the Northeast Indiana Critical Incident Stress Management team who serves first responders and civil servants who respond to painful, difficult and many times gruesome circumstances. He continues give his time to the Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors at their national conference for burn survivors. He has been a long time member of the emotional support team at a conference whose numbers can approach 1000 participants. He has also participated as a presenter, speaking on topics related to Substance Sbuse, Trauma an Addiction, Compassion Fatigue and Caring for Caregivers. Michael also spent five years as the mental health specialist for the Hoosier Burn Camp, an annual week long overnight camp devoted exclusively to young burn survivors.

At Dunn Associates, Michael treats teenagers and adults in areas related to anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, and parenting  and family dynamics, especially with blended families. Michael takes a very direct approach to therapy using primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy blended in with a number of other modalities. Michael’s objective is to do a good enough job to  work himself out of a job and not to be your life-long therapist.
